Muscle fat may pose higher risk to heart health than other forms of fat
A new study, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Faculty at Harvard Medical School, Boston, has found that it may not just be having excess body fat that increases heart disease risk, but where fat is stored, even in those of a healthy weight. The study found that intramuscular fat, or fat contained within muscle tissue, increased the risk of serious heart disease, regardless of other risk factors.
